Garage Sale (Memoirs of a stalker..)

I'm sitting in my computer chair pretty much paralyzed from the eye balls down from all the lifting, bending, walking around i did today. In fact, i am dictating to Jaycie girl and she is typing for me so pardon the typo's. Our garage sale went well though, we had four sellers and we all made good money.....but this is the last time. We swear!

An interesting thing about garage sales: they are great for people watching. It was a little hard since i was running around but i still managed to stalk some people. There are all different types of garage sale goers(is that a word? i think jaycie made that up).

1st: the Novice Garage Sale Goer. this type is perhaps just driving to Foodland & sees the garage sale sign and decides to go check it out. They are usually very friendly, a little shy, and generally just find a few items quietly and pay the seller whatever price they are asking.

2nd: the Hardened Garage Sale Fanatic. This type carefully plans out their entire trip, writes down what they need and never strays from the list. The list is law. The are at the garage sale precisely on time, sweep the garage sell quickly and efficiently, never wasting any time lallygagging on frivolous things. They will sometimes try to talk you down from your price a bit but nothing outrageous and will generally just give up and pay if you stick to your price.

3rd: the Obnoxious Deal Getter. These people just love to get a deal. They don't shop with lists and they probably don't even need what they are buying....they just get that thrill from cheating the system. They flit around quickly, grabbing random items. Then they bring them to you and start firing "how much!! how much!!!??" You want to smack them around and give them some medication but you can't because they make you frazzled and you start agreeing to ridiculous prices they are throwing out. After that they are gone in a flash and you think "what the heck did i just sell???!!" while noticing that like 8 items are gone and you let them pay you 50 cents!

4th: the I No Speaky English garage sale goer. These people would be hilarious if they weren't so darn annoying. They see the price sticker then say a certain price (not ask, they just state it like thats the only word they know). You tell them no and the correct price and their mouth drops open, drool forms, they knit their brows deeply in thought. Then they just repeat THEIR price over and over again trying to break you with their non-english-speaking-voodoo. urrrg! OR they bring you stuff and whine "Why dis not one dollah???" instead of the more appropriate but obviously unpopular "would you mind taking one dollar please?".

5th: last but not least the Angry Sassy Face Shoppers. I'm not really sure why these people are out shopping since it doesn't seem to give them any pleasure whatsoever. The stalk in, arms folded and glare around at all your stuff (maybe trying to light it on fire with their mind??). Then they pick stuff up and slowly scrutinize it for faults. When they hear the price they wrinkle their nose and roll their eyes and roughly shove it back in place. They don't barter, they just sneer. They are like the Grinch who stole the garage sale. In the rare occasion that they actually find something they like they can somehow make you feel bad for selling it to them, for breathing the same air. lol

Anyways, it was an interesting day for a stalker like me.....but BOY are people annoying! WOW, it just makes me more grateful for the awesome family and friends that i have. lol. peace out!

  2. #5 always manages to make me feel bad about myself and I give in to something before they even ask. "just take it! its free for you! now don't ever come back and ruin my self-esteem again"
