After all the birthday parties had passed it was time to buckle down and do some work. Our backyard was big but full of weeds, random concrete slabs, and dirt mounds. We also had a crumbling rock wall that was in sorry shape. It took us many more months to finish our yard completely since our laborers (Bubba and my dad Tiger) had regular jobs and couldn't always align their schedules to work on the yard. They began slowly with killing the weeds and breaking up the concrete slabs then moved on to try their best at rebuilding the rock wall. The guys worked very hard for many afternoons but they always had time to let Landen "help" them. He cheerfully picked up rocks and small pieces of concrete, he shoveled dirt with his little shovel, Papa even let him help with the rotor tiller.
